Small Gestures for Big Practices – Sustainable Education Initiative

Building environmental awareness in young generations, one small gesture at a time

WefflerMark supported the communication efforts for Small Gestures for Big Practices, an educational sustainability project promoting circular economy practices, recycling and environmental awareness among young generations. The initiative engaged thousands of students, teachers and local communities across Romania through interactive lessons and practical activities designed to foster responsible environmental behavior.

In partnership with Carrefour Romania and the non-profit association InspirAction, the project combined hands-on sustainability education with a nationwide recycling challenge. Students participated in dynamic lessons on recycling, reusing resources and adopting sustainable practices, while also taking part in a competition to collect and register recyclable materials marked with the SGR label.

By integrating classroom learning with real-world action, the initiative not only raised awareness about environmental protection, but also encouraged active community participation — from parents and educators to citizens supporting their local schools. The top-performing schools were rewarded with high-efficiency photovoltaic systems, reinforcing the project’s commitment to renewable energy and long-term sustainability.

As a result, the project reached thousands of students and contributed to measurable environmental impact, showcasing how targeted communication and strategic engagement can amplify sustainability education and inspire lasting change in young generations.
